It is with great honor that I accept the invitation to join the Bestr Board. I have been thoroughly impressed by the Bestr leadership team since its inception.  It warms my heart to see such ambitious educators dedicate their lives to help learners, both in and out of school.

I sincerely believe improving learning brings the most beneficial long term impact to the world.

 What I admire the most about Bestr, is its willingness to take on perhaps one of education's biggest challenges: increase motivation for all learners.

The combination of Open Badges and ePortfolios can bring meaning and purpose to learners beyond certificates and grades. It brings joy to learning for learning's sake, but it also provides ways for learners to be recognized, by peers, by employers, and by the rest of the world. .

It will not be easy, but massive changes never are. It will be worth pursuing, because it will bring about changes to how future generations learn.

Since cofounding Digication in 2002, I have had the pleasure to work with millions of students from over 5,000 schools in the United States. I hope to bring to the Bestr Board my experiences with ePortfolio and its pedagogy through reflection and metacognition development, and through a lifelong and integrative approach to learning.
